A seamless television viewing experience depends on an accurate, real-time Electronic Program Guide (EPG). For UK cord-cutters in 2026, having a 7-day TV guide built directly into your streaming player app makes browsing thousands of channels as intuitive as navigating traditional cable or satellite TV.
In this guide, we cover how Electronic Program Guides work, how to enable automatic 7-day UK EPG schedules in top players like TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro, how to fix time zone offsets, and how to use Catch-Up TV to replay missed broadcasts.
What Is an EPG & How Does It Work with Xtream API?
An EPG (Electronic Program Guide) is an XML-formatted data stream that supplies broadcast metadata to your IPTV player app. When you log into NovaVisionIPTV using Xtream Codes API, your app receives two data streams:
- Stream 1: Live Video Feed: The 4K/HD video stream of the channel.
- Stream 2: XMLTV EPG Feed: The live program schedule showing current show titles, progress bars, and upcoming episode descriptions.
Step-by-Step EPG Setup in Popular Player Apps
Setting up your UK TV guide requires zero technical knowledge. Here is how it works across the top 3 player apps:
1. Setting Up EPG in TiviMate Premium
- Open TiviMate Settings > Playlists > Select your NovaVisionIPTV Playlist.
- Scroll down to 'EPG Sources' and ensure Default EPG is selected.
- Click Update EPG. TiviMate will download the entire 7-day UK TV guide grid in under 10 seconds.
2. Setting Up EPG in IPTV Smarters Pro
- On the IPTV Smarters home screen, click the Install EPG icon next to Live TV.
- Select 'Import EPG from Xtream Codes' and press Confirm.
- Your channel lists will display live program progress bars and upcoming show descriptions.
3. Setting Up EPG in IBO Player Pro (Smart TVs)
- When uploading your Xtream credentials to the IBO Player portal website, toggle 'Include EPG URL' to ON.
- Restart the app on your Samsung or LG Smart TV to view current channel schedules.
Fixing Wrong EPG Program Times (Time Offset Guide)
If your TV guide shows a program starting at 9:00 PM when it actually starts at 8:00 PM, your player app's internal clock is out of sync with UK GMT/BST time. Fix this in 2 clicks:
- In TiviMate: Settings > EPG > EPG Sources > Time Offset > Set to +0:00 (GMT) or +1:00 (BST Summer Time).
- In IPTV Smarters Pro: Settings > General Settings > EPG Time Shift > Adjust by +1 or -1 hour.
Using 7-Day Catch-Up TV Replay
Missed your favorite evening drama or weekend match analysis? Channels enabled with Catch-Up TV allow you to scroll back up to 7 days in your EPG TV guide. Simply navigate left on your remote control to select a past program and press Play.
